Its 4:00a.m. Im wide awake and absolutely beaming! After three months or writing, and two years of developing this thing in my head, I just finished the first script for my comic book, THEIA. With my job, lifestyle and having a little guy, the only way to finish personal projects like this are late nights, coffee, little sleep and a ton of commitment. Im incredibly proud of it and I cant wait to start developing the pages now that it has a killer story and great characters. I wanted to be a comic book artist my entire life. I actually had some breaks in my late teens with small publishers but the closer I got to the industry, the more I began to realize how much work was required for such a minimal return. Labor of love is fine and all, but even as a wide eyed hopeful kid, it was pretty obvious it wouldnt be a sustainable career. Eventually I moved on to taking pictures of beautiful people, thankfully. Its remained an itch I couldnt scratch and I eventually added writing, penciling and inking my own 32 page comic to my bucket list. Not just an ashcan or throw away, but a book that would hold up against anything on the shelves. With the advent of crowd funding, I really began thinking about just doing this myself. Having it paid for and self publishing, so now that the script is finished, thatll be my next step. I hope all you comic, space and science nerds help me get it off the ground when the time comes. Im really excited! Special thanks to Stephanie Weber, Laurel Nightingale, Nataljia Tonkovitć, Mark Bailey, Adam Sward and everyone that sat and listened to me do read throughs, and hammer things out. This was the original cover, drawn two years ago and a character design I recently did on my iPad with the Adonit Jot Touch stylus. A lot has changed from one to the other and there have been several iterations of the characters and story arch. Ill most likely add more of the comic book project here on my personal page because it is, in fact, very personal to me. Good night!
