Its 4am. Youre on your way to work. You catch the train to get to work. Walking (not running) across the well lit parking lot The parking lot is mostly empty and youre clearly walking toward the station. You have money for the train in your hand and counting it out. You get about 100 feet from the station when a police officer pulls up, asks you where youre going and what you have in your hand. You show him the damn near exact change necessary for the train. He asks for your ID and says that he has to run it for warrants despite the fact that the computer in his car is down and for all he knows the train could be coming at any moment. Oh and you happen to be wearing a tshirt with the logo of the company you claim to be working for in addition to handing the officer an employee id from that company. I guess he wants to get all the facts before he passes judgment that youre a law abiding citizen.
