Its Alzheimers Disease Awarness Month. Time to focus on the only Top 10 cause of death in America with no way to prevent, cure or slow its progression. Time to focus on the disease whose death rate has increased 68% while mortality of other major diseases, including breast cancer and heart disease, have decreased in the same period. Time to focus on the disease where there are no inspirational stories of survivors -- there is only loneliness, isolation and despair. Time to focus on a disease that has a very high probability of affecting you or your family. 1 in 9 Americans 65+ now have the disease. This increases to 1 in 3 people aged 85+.
