Its Banned Books Week. Once during Banned Books Week a couple years ago I tried to check out The Satanic Verses, WHICH WAS ON THEIR BANNED BOOKS WEEK DISPLAY, and the librarian eyed me hard and basically did an FBI background check on me before letting me take it. She asked if my address was correct and confirmed my name on my drivers license then said my phone number was incorrect. I confirmed the phone number they had and said it was correct. She said it wasnt and said she couldnt let me have the book until I gave them the right phone number. I got my phone out, called the library, and asked her when her phone started ringing what the caller ID said. She eyed me and her computer for probably another 2 minutes before starting the check-out process. Moral of the story is, The Satanic Verses is a very boring entry in the Banned Books Category, dont read it. Read Of Mice And Men or The Catcher In The Rye instead.
