Its Complicated. Just a few months ago many in the US Congress were urging President Obama to help destabilize the Assad regime in Syria, effectively helping the rebels to overthrow the government. President Obama provided some tepid assistance insisting that we would be helping our enemies unintentionally. Some thought the President was weak. Now it turns out President Obama was prescient. one of the groups we would assist is ISIS. Now here we are contemplating assisting the very Assad regime we wanted to topple by probably bombing ISIS in Syria. Therefore helping Assad retain power. How quickly we forget.
