Its Friday, August 1st at my quiet desk, and today is my moms 90th birthday. Here is my ode to mom: Mom, where can I possibly begin and give you the credit you so deserve? You are my role model, my mentor, and though Im heads above you in height, I look up to you. No one else has stood by me my whole life on this Earth as you have done. You hugged me, wiped my tears, encouraged me, bailed me out and allowed me to fall. Your words lift me up, but also tell me the truth, always being honest with me, letting me know, in your gentle way, when I was wrong. You told me that I could do it, when I wasnt sure if I could, but YOU believed in me. I know that you would do anything for me. You grew up during the war, and had to live on very little, which made you a saver, and perhaps a hoarder...LOL! I love that even though I am your only child, you refused to spoil me with things, but never spared in showing me plenty of Love. We laugh together, cry together, share stories and spend precious time together. You are constantly told by others that you have a wonderful smile, though you always seem surprised when they tell you. I believe that that is a Gift from God, and you use it to connect with His children.... keep smiling! Now that we are both mature ladies, you continue to be my confidant and friend. How blessed I truly am to have you in my life. We know that God has a purpose for us, so we both have more to do. Lets spend the rest of the time we have making more memories and sharing Gods Love. Happy 90th birthday Mom, I love you!
