Its Husbands and Wives week here on Classic Country. When Johnny - TopicsExpress

Its Husbands and Wives week here on Classic Country. When Johnny Cash met June Carter for the first time backstage at the Opry in 1955, Johnny made a remark that he would someday marry her. The problem was, John R. was already married to his first wife Vivian (the mother of Rosanne Cash) and June was married to future Hall-of-Famer Carl Smith (the father of Carlene Carter). Some years later, each had divorced their spouses and Johnny and June became a couple, tying the knot in 1968. The couple released a handful of singles together, four of which went top-ten: a cover of Bob Dylans It Aint Me Babe in 1964; Jackson in 1967; a cover of Tim Hardins If I Were a Carpenter in 1969 (that was originally a hit for Bobby Darin); and this un here that Johnnys band member Marshall Grant wrote especially for the couple that went to #6 for them in 1967. https://youtube/watch?v=oH-djK-lJWU
