Its Mommy here this late, rainy Florida afternoon. I have good news, great news and not good news. Being the eternal optimist and one who really loves good news, lets start there! Camis blood glucose is staying within range (or real close to it) most of the time, with just the occasional high or low! She loves her new diet of brown rice, Natures Variety Instinct Limited Ingredient Turkey with green beans and pumpkin! Shes thriving on it and is more active than ever! Stormy shows continued improvement and is taking her meds as given (as long as I hide them in something yummy to her tummy anyway), tolerating the coupage with all of the patience of an older dog AND is coughing up (oh this sounds gross!) gobs of yuck. All good signs! Stormy will have another chest xray either Tuesday or Wednesday. Now for the not good news. Stella is having a back episode, apparently IVDD. She has weakness in her back legs, one Hell of a wobble the little bit that shes allowed to walk and has some neuro deficit in one foot, discovered while doing the standard IVDD tests by Georgia (our IVDD foster Mom extraordinaire). Stella is in no pain, she IS crated except to be carried outside to take care of business, she has started on prednisone (I believe its for the inflammation). I will be calling the Hightower Zoos favorite vet, Dr. Wilson, in the morning to get her in for assessment. Once we have all of the information, we will be putting up a fundraiser for Stellas care. If you would like to go ahead and donate before we get a youcaring up for her, please paypal to gdrescuedonation@gmail and mark is Stella. I always swore Id never be able to take care of an IVDD dog. But of course, I never dreamed Id be taking care of a diabetic dog. Its amazing what a person can do when faced with adversity.
