Its Monsoon Awareness Week in Arizona. With monsoon season on its way...the best time to prepare, for people and pets, is now. Heres some general information on getting yourself and your home prepared for Monsoon storms. monsoonsafety.org/safety-prep/index.htm For your pets, preparedness can include: -securing fencing and putting locks on gates -closing doggy doors and keeping pets indoors (monsoons can hit with little warning) -securing pool fences -staying inside during dust storms as they can spread Valley Fever to people and pets -investing in calming products for dogs that get anxious during storms (Thundershirts, Rescue Remedy, calming music, Relax My Dog is one option) -having an emergency kit ready for your pets (crate, food, water, medications, etc.) Arizona folks, what else do you do to keep your pets safe during the Monsoons?
