Its National Singles week & I guess there are many people who are proud of & celebrate their single-hood. After all, there is nothing wrong with being single if thats your choice & that makes you happy. Being in the relationship business, I see the opposite. So many people who want to be in love yet either cant find it, dont know how to be in it, or sabotage it when they DO have it. What has happened to relationships & whatever happened to commitment? This world is breeding generations of individuals that are about the me, me, me. In a world that screams immediacy, impatience, variety and freedom...where does LOVE fit in anymore? We have more divorce today than ever before. The numbers for people getting married decline every year. There are now more single people living in the US today then there are married people. We are breeding incredibly lonely people with alot of stuff. Bigger houses, cooler cars, fancy titles under their name...yet all those things dont keep their spirits warm at night or bring their soul peace, comfort & love. If we SAY we want love then we have to do something RADICALLY different than we are today in order to find it. Committing our own self to getting healthy & whole to be IN it & then standing courageously, whole-heartedly IN it, when we find it. There will always be plenty of options out there, but options wont stand with you in times of adversity & when your soul needs to be known, understood & accepted. There is tremendous comfort & beauty in that ancient word commitment. Maybe we all try it on again? That is, if we want love.
