Its Now Official at Barber Museum Birmingham loves its inventory of superlatives. Vulcan is the worlds largest cast iron statue. Rickwood is the countrys oldest baseball park. And now we have brand new bragging rights. Birmingham is home to the worlds largest motorcycle museum. Guinness World Records recently declared that Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum holds that title. Birmingham businessman and longtime motorcycle enthusiast George Barber started the museum in a smallish warehouse on the citys southside. When he outgrew that space, he decided to do something splendid for the Birmingham area. He built a five-story, glass-fronted museum and invited the public to see his collection. And come they have. Last year alone, the museum drew more than 270,000 visitors from around the world to see nearly 1,400 vehicles on display. And we wont even get into what Mr. Barber has done for Birmingham with the adjacent Barber Motorsports Park. barbermuseum.org
