Its OK, a dog is meant to be murdered: they traded wild freedom for docility, and thus we assert our authority to choose its end. Its OK to bring misery to a pregnant woman, her physically handicapped husband, and her 20-month old son so that they are brought an end with their own hands. All of this, over your skewed idea of how people should live their lives. Its OK to kidnap girls in school trying to learn and bring honor to their people. You deemed educated women as threats to your religious institutions. I am no friend to these people, and of those who circled the most holy cuboid in hypocrisy. When I look at tall hotels surrounding the most sanctimonious abode of God on Earth, and of the tall clock tower, I am reminded of this generations arrogance by towering over the very structures they so-called venerate. When I learnt of diseases lurking at the corner of the Haramain, I believed this to be the deliverance over the custodians who destroyed the heritage that preserved the religion until today. What I remembered in 1997, 1998 and 2003 will be the only time I remember this holy city in great humility. Now I hear horror stories from the congregation on this side of the world. They shopped instead of praying. They talked while they ate. They disregard the norms of etiquette while dining over a three-star Michelin feast. What other acts forbidden to them while on the holy grounds I care not to listen. As I hear the echoes of Muhammad Abduh in my mind, the ignorance of this part of the world & its silence is a testament of the prevalence of avidya, a delusion they cover themselves over with. I can only watch on as these people continue to cover their ears to the truth, and their eyes to the horrors of their making. Lakum deenukum waliya deen.
