Its October 23, and Weird Al Yankovic was born on this date in 1959. He rose to popularity on the Dr. Demento Show (for you younguns, that was a weekly radio show that featured novelty, comedy, strange and unusual recordings - it was at the height of its popularity in the late 70s and early 80s). Yankovics first hit on the show was My Bologna, a parody of The Knacks number one hit My Sharona. Heres one of his most recent songs, Word Crimes which I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. (And as a follow-up to yesterdays post, Im not sure if Yankovic is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or not, but I honestly think he should be based on the fact that many pop and rock artists have said they knew theyd made it when Weird Al did one of their songs.) -Chris
