Its On The Internet So... I am the Lord, and there is no other..... so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know that there is none besides me.... I form the light and create the darkness.... You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down.... I the Lord have created it.... (Isa.45:5-8). Have you ever played the parlor game in which you whispered a message into someones ear and let them pass it along to someone else? That person in turn passes it on and it goes through several people. You ask the last person to state the message, and find it is nothing like the original? Weve all played the game and find that simple messages can often get distorted. I couldnt resist using the title I did this morning... People used to say, I read it in the newspaper, so it must be true, but I guess that the internet has superseded it. Perhaps another term that has been used is, consider the source... By the way, considering the source for information is certainly a good thing. If a company is marketing a product to you, considering the source is good. You might want to weigh what the company says about it against what people that use the product actually say... A non-believer might look at todays passage from Isaiah and take the approach that God was doing some boasting through him... Its almost as if God is doing some advertising about Himself.. I am the Lord, and there is no other... I form light and create darkness... let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it... A skeptic might look at these verses and say, consider the source... But if we go on, we find some of the greatest prophesies in Scripture. Isaiah speaks about an anointed ruler, Cyrus, who will conquer many nations. The interesting thing is that Cyrus wont come into existence for 150 years! Prophesies like this offer a great testament to the inspiration of Scripture and show how trustworthy it is as a source. In todays passage, God is not boasting about Himself, only promising Israel that He would deliver them. He does the same thing for us today, in that He promises our deliverance too.... The message is true, and the source is impeccable. Oh... And that Cyrus guy? He was real... You can look him up on the internet... Have a great start to your week.... Begin it with a RAK or two (any kind) Love mark Phil.4:11
