Its Sunday. Time to get up and... ...get ready for a fun day. And I need it. One of my sisters cant be with us for the holidays so were meeting a little early to spend some time with her and her family today. Its going to be nice. Some people have asked me about my current profile picture. I was never in law enforcement (although in some of my bios I point out I was a hostage negotiator), but I have had and currently have family members who are in law enforcement. My grandfather was a cop, a member of the garde in Ireland. I have grown up with a great respect for the law. Are there flaws in the system? Yes. Are there laws that make no sense? Yes. But that is why we have the system. If there is something wrong with a law, we have representatives whom we have elected who are supposed to be acting in our best interest. We do not break the law because we feel it is not a fair law. If we are not going to respect the system and those we place in that trust to enforce it, then we are doomed. There has been a great deal of injustice not only in recent months, but in the past and were still not learning from it. But nothing justifies the death of those we place in the trust to enforce justice as best as they can. If you dont like the system, get involved in a positive way - protests are fine, but getting into the system is better. Years ago, I was a waiter in a restaurant. I thought it was run poorly. I worked my way into management in an effort to make a difference. I wasnt always successful, but at least I tried. Its why Im contemplating getting into school administration. I see so many people complain about the way the education system is run, but they complain from the safety of their desk and chairs or they do little things to sabotage the system. Get involved and stop holding the past up as the reason why nothing is done. Youll never know until you try. (steps quietly off soapbox) I missed birthdays yesterday for Julie and David. Hope it was a good one. Happy birthday today to Linda. Enjoy the day, and if you got any, the light snow. It looks nice on the ground around here.
