Its Sunday and time to make a big breakfast. Lets get started with fluffy biscuits from scratch! Ingredients: In a bowl, 2 cups AP flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 3 teaspoons sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Whisk together. Add 1/4 cup of cold butter and 1/4 cup vegetable shortening. Cut the butter and shortening into the flour mix with a pastery cutter until the flour resembles course crumbs. Add 2/3 cup of milk with 1 egg. Mix together until just mixed in. On a well floured surface turn out your dough and knead it until everything is just mixed together well. DO NOT over knead the dough. Flatten dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Some people used a rolling pin. I dont. I just flatten with my hand. One less object to wash. Cut your biscuits out and bake in a preheated 450 degree oven for about 10 minutes. I use a baking stone that I preheat with the oven and the biscuits have never burned on me. Scroll through the pictures for the milk gravy kind of a recipe. I tend to wing it every time and its always good. Slather it onto almost everything!! The last pictures are of my plate. 3 biscuits half with butter and gravy and half with butter and homemade strawberry preserves we put up this summer. 3 eggs and the sausage is homemade and kind of spicy hot to my liking! Food coma here I come!
