Its Time to End the Code of Silence, Ft. Myers! Today I went to - TopicsExpress

Its Time to End the Code of Silence, Ft. Myers! Today I went to the funeral of the little 5 year old boy killed in a senseless and yet unsolved shooting in Ft. Myers last week. The church was packed w/ more than 500 mourners. The minister implored the community and law enforcement to work together. There were tears, amens, hallelujahs, and heads nodding in agreement to Pastor Glovers impassioned pleas for positive changes. My tears flowed when I looked at that tiny, innocent angel lying in that white coffin. He should have been playing w/ the Spider Man balloon that floated above him and the Ninja turtle next to him should have been catapulted with glee from one end of the room to the other as only 5 year old boys can do. Instead, little Andrew lay forever still and so did the Ninja turtle next to him, and the Spider Man balloon seemed listless w/o little hands to send it soaring. My heart was breaking as I thought, Someone, somewhere knows what happened. How can anyone remain silent knowing that an innocent life has been lost? As the minister pointed out, the silence protects the evil one. If ever there was a time to speak out, this is certainly the time to do so! In life, there are times to be quiet, but this is not one of those times. Its time to end this senseless, evil code of silence! Do it now, Fort Myers so that little Andrews short life and early death will not have been in vain. Speak up for Andrew!
