Its Turkey Tuesday! A little something different today, a Tomcat Walkaround depicting F-14B 163217 photographed following its final Combat Cruise, ending 12 December 2004. This Tomcat was born on 1 January 1989 and was assigned Grumman Shop Number 578. She served with VF-142, VF-143, VF-102 and finally, VF-103. She was retired to AMARG, arriving there on 24 January 2005, accompanied by 161435 on this, her final flight. During her career, 163217 accumulated 5941 flight hours, 1914 cat shots and 1916 arrested landing including two field arrestments. Once at AMARG, 163217 was assigned storage code AN1K0174. I am sad to report, she was sold to HVF West, Tucson, AZ, and broken up for scrap. All photos copyright David F. Brown.
