Its a Good Day! I have to start by reminding myself of that, because in the midst of my hurt, anger, frustration and fear for my own child, I can easily forget. I could start posting things that feel good in the moment, but that Ill later regret. I could let my fears feed those of my child, and his friends who read my posts, causing their anger to reach a vitriolic state. But - I.Will.Not. I wont let fear steal my joy for life. I wont let hate have my hope. I will not let my anger at them control me, or destroy the dreams of my children. Instead, I will rise, and take as many people as possible with me. My words will uplift and affirm our children, reminding our black boys that the value of their life is never dictated by others, but by God. I will position myself to be a change maker, to control wealth and participate in the conversations behind closed doors, where most big decisions are made. I will build bridges, challenging my own mistrust of others, so that we all can get to a better place. Thats what Im going to do. What about you? ❤
