Its a beautiful Fall Friday which means its time for a Field Calls Friday Report! This weeks report involves a tiny bunny and our tallest Officer... We received a call from a member of the public about a baby bunny that was in distress. Officer David went to the call and when he arrived, he found a wee baby bunny that had managed to get stuck in a window well when some bricks shifted. Baby Bunnies have what is called a very high fear instinct and so was very frightened of David which made him pretty much impossible to catch! David radioed back to the shelter for help, which came in the form of one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians, Andrea, who was able to gently give the bunny just enough sedation to calm him down enough that David could carefully remove him from the window well. The bunny was assessed by Andrea and then transported to a wildlife rehabilitation centre until he was bright eyed and cotton tailed again! Once he was feeling better, he was released back into the wild where he belongs! A big Paws Up! to Officer David and RVT Andrea for making a world of difference in the life of this little bunny.
