Its a jobs bill alright, just not jobs for Americans. The biggest impact isnt environmental. The U.S. has pipelines crisscrossing the country and theyre safer and more environmentally friendly than hauling product by truck or train. The biggest negative impact is that the resources that we have in our country should stay in the country to supply our own demand at market prices. The advocates of the pipeline who stand to make a lot of money are building it to the coast to put the resources on ships to export overseas where they can make more money on it than selling it domestically. Its a simple equation of supply and demand. Keep a larger supply here in our country and the price of fuel fuel will drop to the consumer. I dont know about you, but Im not an oil tycoon. Im a consumer and I stand to gain more without the pipeline and paying less money for my petroleum products. Weve always said we wanted to be energy self-sufficient and independent of foreign oil producing powers. But the oil tycoons have other priorities, and those priorities dont include a strongly independent U.S.A.
