Its a long story but.... I normally take the highway home from work but today as the result of a car accident I was detoured towards the city and opted to go the long way home rather than double back. A few blocks later I saw a young man hitch hiking and pulled over. He was headed for city so I moved the ukulele off the front seat and said jump in. We got talking and he tells me his name is Liam from Melbourne and he has been hitch hiking for 3 days to come visit a friend in Red Hill. Eventually he asks about the ukulele and I tell him I play music but you probably wouldnt of heard of me. I tell him my name is Paddy McHugh and Liam says as in Paddy McHugh & The Goldminers?. This is where it gets weird....He then proceeds to tell me that when he first left Melbourne a few days ago his first ride was with a chick called Kat who had played him a CD of Australian country folk music that he had absolutely loved. Kat had dropped Liam in Sydney but they had got along well on the drive so they swapped numbers. Yesterday Liam texted Kat to find out the name of the band he had enjoyed so much so he could get a copy of the CD. Kat replied today with the text Paddy McHugh & The Goldminers. That afternoon I picked him up..... I even had a copy of the CD in the car to give him. I dropped Liam in Red Hill and spent the rest of the ride home with my MIND BLOWN. Thanks universe you have once again proved that I know nothing and have no control.......
