Its a massive well done to our 2nds - who today played Aylesbury 3rds and won by 3 tries to 2! Early on in the first half Aylesbury opened the scoring with their first try after a midfield break, but the conversion was wide. Didcot then narrowed the gap with a penalty outside the Aylesbury 22, which Chris Freeman put over. 3-5. Next up was John Madley, who took the ball at pace heading towards the right hand corner, from outside the 22. He raced in to the tryline, and despite several Aylesbury players diving on him was able to ground the ball. The conversion slipped wide. 8-5 After a very squint throw from the visiting hooker Didcot retained the ball at the scrum and it found its way in to Chris Freemans hands. He side stepped several players to crash over under the posts. The ref was on top of the action and awarded the try. The conversion tumbled to the outside of the right upright so was not given. 13-5 Aylesbury then got the lucky bounce when the Didcot fullback was lined up to collect the bobbling Aylesbury kick ahead when the ball bounced right as he stepped left. The on rushing Aylesbury player dribbled the ball the last 10 metres and flopped on the ball as it rolled over the line right between the posts. The conversion missed. 13-10 Early in the second half Joe Morris scored an unconverted try after a very generous pass from Didcots scrumhalf for the day Mike Patterson, who looked certain to score himself. The conversion missed. 18-10 The score didnt change for the rest of the game so ended at 18-10 to the Chaps!
