Its a new year, every 365 days and a quarter of the earths pilgrimage there is a new year. But what does it mean, to have a new year. Just weeks before everyone would prepare for it, just days before people would gather, just hours before you see people eagerly smiling over the clock and just seconds before they proudly shout the countdown of the remaining seconds. Then, its a new year which up until today I still have trouble understanding. I could not understand even if I have watched it for years. I wont explicit disclose my age but I am at the age where I am suppose to understand this kind of things yet I dont. Perhaps I am late with my age within me, I may still be a child within my heart. But a child would be the best to honestly show their happiness at times of those. Am I the only one who could not understand it? I firmly disbelief that because only those that were taught about the meaning of new years would be able to find happiness from it even from the slightest. There should be a number that will be like me but at the same time that number of people will also soon begin to slowly understand the meaning of new years. It is simply a lie that I said I find it difficult to understand it because it is no different than understanding time. The more time has past, the more I understood. Time is a teacher on its own as long as you keep living. Time taught me that one as I would slowly see those past you left is like a grey sea while those who appreciate those once in a year event will have a past as colourful as rainbow. In that colourful sea had images of wonderful memories and emotions. If one could see it with the naked eye, that eye will soon be filled in tears of envy. That is when you will ask yourself why did I not see this sooner? Why was I left out? And when you kept seeing or hearing stories of the ones that are close to you about their wonderful experiences, you have nothing to share. You sat there silent like a ghost just watching while at the same time you felt in despair. Sadness, anger, hatred and all its friend would slowly swallow you into the sea of regrets. In the deep dark abyss you sinked, that emptiness was accompanied by complete silence. But that darkness maybe your salvation for only when you felt despair that your eyes will be closed into slumber and only then will you be able to dream. To dream of a new life where you can learn to understand the wonderful meaning that life can bring. Dont be afraid is what time said, you still have the chance even if your remaining breaths would only last for a few seconds because it doesnt take alot to just smile and fill your mind with a dream you wish to live in. Why you may ask? Because to shed away your old worries and start with new mind is what it means to celebrate a new years. Not how you spent your time, not what you did during that time. Its simply that you openly accept your yesterday and say You did a good job, let me take over now. You deserve your rest.. Say thank you and goodbye to your old self, and bring forth a new person for the present. And that Is what time taught me. The meaning of new years that time personally taught me. I hope anyone who read this would learn even a little that it is never too late to understand not just new years but everything in life.
