Its a sad reality that our busy days make our lives often less - TopicsExpress

Its a sad reality that our busy days make our lives often less personal... We tend to focus less on human connections for the sake of efficiency and are forced to focus on economic proficiency. And before I might get misunderstood, I am in no way referring to taxi drivers in particular, Im talking to ALL, who are under pressure to perform 1/3 or more of each day, one after another, while struggling to have somewhat of a personal/family life as well... all as a part of a socio-economic system that requires us to be the obedient servants of corrupt governments, requiring us to sponsor their wants, often in the detriment of our own basic needs... How is this related to driving, you may ask? Well, have you ever thought for example of how much of your time, what percentage of each day you have to waste with outdated traffic systems, stuck during rush hours, waiting at red lights, or for that ridiculous turn signal at 4 Am (while seeing clearly that youre the only driver on the road in a few block radius), having to make a full stop at every corner and slow down for every speed bump in the middle of the block, then look for parking for often even an hour, just to wake up before the sun to move your car in order to avoid getting a ticket in front of your own house? What most fail to understand is that all this is NOT (or rather SHOULD NOT BE!) a normal part of our days. Driving should not be this inefficient, parking does not need to be this difficult, and public transportation isnt always the best solution. But as our corrupt governments, full of selfish and/or careless employees and incompetent bureaucrats feel the pressure to generate more revenue, traffic becomes an easy source, drivers become easy targets, and a rigged pseudo-legal system makes it even easier, especially since most of the complacent victims, through wilful ignorance can not be bothered to even make the intellectual effort of imagining how much better it could be, even less to fight an old, broken, ridiculously inefficient system and the ones taking advantage of it and them. While this might not be the best place (nor do I really have the time) to post a long list of functioning examples of better traffic systems in general, the next time you get stuck in traffic, repeatedly looking at your watch, please, do consider the exercise of imagining how you would change all the issues that hinder and frustrate you daily, with systems that you yourself know to exist. And feel free to add your thoughts, links below, in form of comments and if I see the interest growing, I will add some lists and links as well. I just wouldnt want to make this about me, if not enough others feel to participate... Remember, this is NOT MY GROUP, its ALL OURS - so do feel free to make it yours too, by participating and inviting your friends to do as well. Were all in this together, stuck on the same roads, driving around the same potholes, while the mayors motorcade whizzes by us on roads that require the rest of us to slow down to the speed of a horse carriage. Seriously, just think about the efficiency of the German Autobahn and the ridiculousness of your own situation next time youre driving with 55 MpH on the 90/94 or with 40 on Lake Shore Drive... and take that thought with you to both your tax professional in April and to the voting booth.
