Its a shame Greens and two independents (but not the Mayor) voted - TopicsExpress

Its a shame Greens and two independents (but not the Mayor) voted down proceeding with the kids pump track at Camdenville Park last night. The track would be viable regardless of if Bedwin Road or bridge is widened. The cost of the fence and pathway is council staffs idea of how to cost these things at hundreds of thousands which seems OTT! The existing fence could have served till there was clarity about the widening and we could have got on with final design and construction of the track which will take several months anyway, Now the Greens and Independents have moved and voted to defer this another three months to wait and see about Westconnex. Why not reverse this decision and instead proceed with the Junior pump track but not the fence or final version on the path for 3 months? It seems this council cant be proactive or practical, only do nothing or otherwise spend shed loads of money. Theres no middle way it seems to having something instead of nothing, and being willing to take steps before spending big on consultant led advice of how things have to be. You cant have a gravel path, it had to be concrete. You cant use/work with and old fence, it has to all new. I thought the Greens had more imagination than this, and claim to be wanting more natural and healthy environments for people, but seems they lack imagination of how to get this. Its shit the way this council staff puts up reports without asking stakeholders what they think. They treat the community as dick heads but pretend they consult and crap on with PR stories frequently about how great they are. They are not that good at working with community at all. They are pretty difficult if you try and get anything done they didnt propose or rather dont like for whatever reasons they have but wont mention. Oh yeah, they wanted to this track down at Sydenham Green because it was a good idea and they needed some ideas for something to put there, but how many people want their kids to play under aircraft landings and kerosene fumes?? See what I mean about some of these people who run our council for us. Last night was disappointing and this decision ought to be examined and reconsidered. Now we are delaying good projects to wait for Westconnex, but in this case there wasnt a real need to delay, just to be more strategic about proceeding sensibly, thats all was needed.
