Its a shame the player has no leverage in a situation like this. Definitely mis-handled by Cardinals, and in my opinion they have placed their third best starting pitcher in the bullpen. I hope he doesnt suffer career-ending injury without ever getting his WELL-EARNED chance to realize his dream. He didnt make the rules, or define the contest, but he clearly kicked butt in winning it. This is not to say the other guys are bad; Carlos just appears to be much better now, with the gap probably widening going forward. I could not blame him at all if he feels betrayed, and wishes he had a chance to be in another uniform in 2014.
