Its a tough battle during the school year - the dreaded BEDTIME! Make your life easier and your children less cranky - start new sleeping habits over the summer. General guidelines call for 10-12 hrs of sleep for 3-6 yr olds, 10-11 hours for ages 7-12 and 8-9 hours for children over the age of 12. Here are some pointers to help kids and teens get a good nights sleep: - Remove TVs, computers and tech gadgets from kids bedrooms - Avoid large meals before bedtime - Develop a regular bedtime routine: make sure the bedroom is dark, quiet and relaxing - Help kids quiet down a few hours before bedtime by ending heavy studying, text messaging or video games in early evening
