Its all about a team effort! The North Bend Fire Department works hard at having good, mutually beneficial relations with its neighboring departments. Last night, the NBFD responded on mutual aid to assist our friends at Charleston Fire Dept as they dealt with a very serious ammonia leak at a business on their waterfront. North Bend firefighters can be seen assisting the regional haz. mat. team from Coos Bay Fire by decontaminating the Level A entry suit personnel as they came out of what was a very strong concentration of ammonia gas. Because of cooperative efforts such as mutual aid, this serious incident was effectively mitigated without any firefighter injuries. Our commitment to be a good mutual aid partner continues tonight with the first of what we hope will be many quarterly mutual aid drills with North Bay Fire and Charleston!
