Its all in the name? Could it be that the reason that so many people deny or ignore climate change is the name? The words we use are just so benign; global warming, climate change. Global Warming? To a Minnesotan, those are welcome words in a frozen January. The words we use hardly capture the true consequences were talking about, such as mass extinction of species, habitat destruction, skyrocketing disease vectors, acidification of the oceans, melting of polar ice caps, killer storms, etc. What can we use instead? Any ideas, folks? If you give us a great one, we promise that PLACE will start using it in our publications and talks. Right now we use, Global Climate Disruption. The word disruption is certainly stronger and clearer that the word change, and no one is exempt from it, its global. What do you think? Does the term Global Climate Disruption get your attention?
