Its almost Christmas. Understanding that Im a little bit off balance and this is Facebook, bear with me and dont turn this into something awful. OK? A year or so ago, I discovered that God had a Facebook page and I friended him or her. It just seemed like the right thing to do. There was an issue that developed that I didnt plan for but should have. My page was slammed with people commenting and liking things on Gods page. God did not say anything himself or herself, but after considerable thought, I deleted God from my Facebook friends. I have to say that things havent been as rosey as I would like, I hope it wasnt because of that. Which leads me to the next interesting Facebook issue. Last Christmas, I wished Jesus a happy birthday and mentioned that Facebook didnt send me a notice. Thinking about posting that again this year, I realized that the reason I didnt get a notice of Jesus birthday was because I wasnt a friend of his. Somewhat troubling. So I do a search and find a page for Jesus Christ with lots of followers and friends, but under the name it says, fictional character. The last thing I want to do is friend Jesus and then have to unfriend him, but whats more troubling is the fictional character part. If youre an atheist, I understand and respect your beliefs, but what about the rest of us? I mean, if Santa Claus and Jesus are fictional characters, why dont we all just go to work on Thursday and forget about the whole thing? This is very troubling.
