Its amazing how John Mahama is collaborating with Jerry Rawlings to oust the Mills loyalists who won them elections on two occasions. The Rawlings/Mahama candidates are Kofi Portuophy for chairmanship, Kofi Adams for National Organiser, Adu Asare for Dep. Gen. Sec, Kobby Fiagbe for Propaganda Sec. among others...This faction has already succeeded in ousting Ludwiq, a staunch Mills/Ahwois loyalist. A known Rawlings/Mahama adherent, Siidi Abubakari was bankrolled to win the prestigious Youth office of the party. It appears Jerry Rawlings want to use these candidates to reassert control and authority over the NDC..The all powerful Aseidu Nketia has read through the scheme and is very determined to crush these machinations by ensuring the retention of the Mills/Ahwois loyalists. Aseidu Nketia has not hidden his desire to get incumbent National Chairman retained..He has warned against the election of the Rawlings/Mahama protégé Kofi Adams as National Organiser, contending that he has been a mole in the party. A Porturphy victory, per the calculations of the Rawlings/Mahama camp, would weaken the power of Aseidu Nketia and pave the way for easy control of affairs of the party. The Rawlings/Mahama camp has the highly respected Alhaji Huudu Yahaya as a plan B. They believe the cunning diplomacy of this candidate makes him an alternative should the Portophy bid fail as result of split in votes between him and Dr. Kwabena Adjei. In all this, I foresee doom n gloom post congress...I foresee Kofi Adams fighting an all powerful Aseidu Nketia for space to operate...It will be even more difficult for Kofi Adams should Aseidu Nketia succeed in getting most Mills/Ahwois loyalists retained. George Lawson, an incumbent Dep. Gen. Sec, lamented bitterly over the coordinated, well-oiled move by the powers that be to get them (Mills loyalists) out of the NDC NEC.
