Its amazing how stubborness will cause people to totally overlook a job well done. Saw a post where Elm Street fans were asked for their opinions on Jackie Earl Haleys performance as Freddy Krueger in the remake. Of course most of them...75% probably were saying he was awful and terrible and not Robert Englund so he sucked. The movie is awful no doubt, with only a handful of good things going for it but overall a major failure. Overlooking the films issues from script, direction, poor CGI and Haleys make-up the performance Haley gave was ever bit as good of acting as Englunds. And I am in the Englund will always be the one and only Freddy. But my preference does not mean Haley did a terrible job acting in the role. He simply didnt. He was sinister, creepy and vicious and with a dark sense of enjoyment. It wasnt Robert...but it was great for what he had to work with.
