Its amazing sometimes...how things can change so much in just a day! This morning it was decided that little Miss Mamie is going to stay with her Momma Jan. Sounds to me as if its a case of love at first sight! Momma Jan is going to nurse little Miss Mamie through her vet visits, tests, surgeries; Momma Jan is going to bE THERE for this sweet little lady with needs so great! We have an idea of those needs but havent started a youcaring until we receive confirmation from her vet. Stay tuned... Now...our part in all these changes? Were getting our next foster on Monday of next week! Yes, we are. Little Greta, the victim of a puppy mill/breeder dump is coming to spend time being loved by us! Greta was spayed on Friday of last week and had extensive lab work done. The reports dont look good on first glance! There was a mass in her uterus that could have been any number of things, none of them pretty, none of them nice. It could have been a tumor. It could have been something else I find nearly impossible to write or talk about. Im not going to post the photos of Gretas uterus and ovaries after they were removed, thats much too graphic an image to leave yall with. Its bad enough that I had to see them, that Georgia and many others in our rescue had to see them. Considering Greta (and the other 4 dogs we have coming into Getalong Dachshund Rescue from this same puppy mill situation) has likely never had veterinary care. Maybe not even the most basic vet care. Well never know for sure. But Greta does show internal physical signs of having been bred and bred and bred. Two more babies from this situation are being spayed/neutered tomorrow! And then two more the following day! By the weekend, theyll all be in their fosters except Greta. We have immune compromised dogs here (Cami and Stormy) so Greta has to be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days. Next Monday cant get here fast enough! I want to love on this little lady, nourish her body and soul, teach her how to be the young dog she is (6 years old) and be part of the rescue that shows her and her mill mates that humans CAN be good to dogs! Our veterinary costs have already exceeded $1200. for these five dogs and are liable to go well over $3000. including dentals for all of them! Our boarding bills are horrendous and climbing daily! But all safety precautions must be taken for the sake of the other animals where these dogs are going! Please, if you can, will you donate? $1. helps. There is no amount too small to help with these five dogs who probably havent been given even the most basic of vet care! If you cant donate, please share our plea...and pray for these sweet ones. youcaring/pet-expenses/dumped-abandoned-senior-female-breeder-dachshunds-/255019
