Its amazing that Dombrowski pulled this deal off. My guess is that DD began talks with the Rangers on acquiring Jurickson Profar, the highly talented, 20 y.o. infield prospect that the Rangers would like to work into their lineup. However, with Beltre (3B), Andrus (SS) and Kinsler (2B) all secure in their positions, Profar didnt have an opening. Moreland is their decent 1B, but hes 28. Kinsler is 31. Its easy to see how the conversation could have switched to our 1B conundrum (Miggy or Prince?) and the Rangers 2B situation (Profar or Kinsler?). In spite the salary difference, DD was able to convince the Rangers that it was a win-win for both teams. And just over a month ago MLB approved the Rangers new ownership situation with Ray Davis replacing Nolan Ryan.
