Its an exciting time to be a sports fan. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup - TopicsExpress

Its an exciting time to be a sports fan. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals tonight. This might be the last NHL hockey game we see this season. We have the US Open (golf) start tomorrow at a very exciting course. We also have the FIFA World Cup starting tomorrow. What is exciting is that a lot of these events are hard to predict and there could be lots of outcomes. Still, here are some of my predictions: - There is no doubt in my mind that the Los Angeles Kings will win the Stanley Cup. Question is: Will it be a sweep or not? A sweep would be embarrassing, but I would not at all be surprised. Still, I think the Rangers will give it a good fight tonight. My guess is that this will go back to L.A. for a game 5 (although this is a very narrow prediction... like a 49/51 thing). Would be nice for the Kings to win the cup at home. - Golf: Will Phil Mickelson complete his career grand slam and win? It is a good course to do so. The fact that he won the British Open last year makes me think this years US Open course might be a good match for him. Still, I think that is about the only thing he has got going for himself right now. While I would like him to win, I do not think he will win it. So who else? Jordan Spieth will likely be in the mix again, but again, while I would like him to win, I dont think it is quite his time yet. I think Rory McIlroy will be in the mix, and finish in the top 10 but not win. I think Miguel Ángel Jiménez will also be in the running but not win. I think my fellow The Leadbetter Golf Academy student Ernie Els will give it a good effort, but not win. So I gotta give it to Adam Scott. Not a very imaginative pick, as I will admit. Heres a more outlandish guess for you: I think one of my favorite golfers, Graeme McDowell, might surprise some people. You heard it here first. ;-) - What about the soccer world cup? Brazil is a lot of peoples favorite, and it would be one heck of a party if they won. But again, I have my doubts. There is a huge amount of pressure. I am sure they will do well and almost certainly make it into the semi finals. I even think they will make it into the finals, but I think they will not quite pull it off. I think Spain will be the other team in the finals, and they are going to take home the big price.
