Its been 13 yrs, and like all of you remember that day as if it just occurred!! The raw emotions are as present today as they were then. I remember at first feeling so scared and than my thoughts went to my family and friends who live and work in that area. My friends who are part of the great NYPD and NYFD and housing authority. My friends who are flight attendants. I remember those frantic phone calls, searching faces for them. I vividly remember wanting to physically be with my whole family, while at the same time awaiting the call from my squadron. I recall packing and saying goodbye to my husband heading for McGuire, not knowing what I was headed to and when I would be back. I so vividly remember that feeling in the pit of my stomach, when I arrived at he gate and was greeted by huge spotlights and armed guards in a tank. Driving in to report and seeing all the signs and windows covered!!! Feelings of joy when I finally got word later that nite my family and friends were ok, and than such remorse when our mission went to one of providing care to recovery. The call in my room the next nite informing me they needed the sizes of my crew and myself so they could get our chem gear together was surreal. But I never once doubted that I was where I should be! I will NEVER forget this day 9/11/2001 and the months after!!!! I am so proud to have served with such great people in the 714AES! May we continue to learn from this and never forget! Remember to give your loved ones a tighter hug today and be a little nicer to everyone!! May God Bless America!!!
