Its been 7 weeks since I applied for EI, and I still have yet to receive my first cheque. Lucky for me, I had a decent amount of money saved. I know the intention is to make it as uncomfortable as possible to be on employment insurance, but what if you have a family to feed, or a decent sized rent you need to take care of? If i had been broke prior to my layoff, I probably would see myself without a place to live or any food to eat. I also know this is common practice with Service Canada. I really dont understand how they can get away with it
