Its been 9 days since I had surgery. I thought it was going to be a simple surgery, with a few stitches, and get on with my life. After I woke up, the doctor was talking about this huge hole in my abdomen that would have to be taken care of by a home nurse. He chose not to stitch it up because so much of the tissue was infected and he wanted it to heal from the inside out. The first day after surgery I started bleeding so bad that the nurse had to send me back to the surgeons office to get stitches. The second day the leg pains started and I had to get an ultrasound for blood clots. The next day I started bleeding again. 3 more trips back and forth to the surgeons office over the next 5 days. Fevers and infection set in this past weekend. My pain levels are extreme, and even the pain meds arent helping. I have to lay in one position, to get pain relief. This, with all dealing with my chronic back pain from bulging discs and scoliosis. The doctor just ordered a Wound Vac, which should help heal my wound much quicker. The doctor is hoping that I will be healed up in 4-6 weeks. Simple Procedure, Doc? I dont think so. This has thrown me for a big loop.
