Its been a Saturday morning and Bix taking a 2 1/2 hour nap allowed me to do some Saturday morning chores. As I go about my business I think of Mom, of Saturday mornings as a kid. I wake to the sound of a vacuum running, and I come downstairs to the smell of Murphys and Windex, Pledge furniture polish. A garbage bag of old mail and magazines, sinks full of houseplants being watered, the stairs full of things picked up elsewhere and ready to be hauled up to their owners rooms. A dining room table full of baskets of laundry to be folded and delivered. Shes wearing ratty sweats and an old t- shirt of Pas, sizes and sizes too large, hair in a messy pony tail, but smelling sweet of powder and Chanel. If I had some Michael McDonald or Don Henley, Id throw it on to complete the experience. Thanks for those Saturday mornings, Mom.
