Its been a bit of a frantic few days here at Fiction Towers. With two gigs scheduled for the weekend, we received the troubling news midweek that our drummer, Paul, had injured his leg and we had no idea how long it would take to heal. It took a bit of convincing him that he had to take it easy and stay off the leg as he was in Black Knight (Monty Python) mode from the outset, claiming: “Its just a flesh wound!” Nevertheless, we weren’t about to risk Paul’s health so, we’d like to say a HUGE thank you to the incomparable Tez who stepped up to the plate at the last minute, learned our set the day before our first gig of the weekend and handled the whole episode like a pro’ – he was incredible and, if anyone is looking for a drummer, we would recommend him 100%. Quoting a member of the audience from our gig at Manchester Food and Drink Festival on Saturday: “Your drummer is like Animal, from The Muppets! He’s amazing!” You should have seen her face when we revealed it was only the second time Tez had played with us. Thank you Tez, you were an absolute star! You saved the day, dude! Meanwhile, Paul is on the mend and should be fighting fit by our next gig which is for Steel Shoes at The Washington on 8th October.
