Its been a busy week or so for me, heres an update for those who care. A week last Friday, I went to the Horseshoe Tavern to see my friends from Savanah and Secret Broadcast as they played on a bill with Last Bullet, The Reed Effect and Old Major. A splendid time was had by all. I will be seeing Secret Broadcast again on December 5th, and Savanah will be performing at my birthday party next month. Both bands sounded really good, and I look forward to seeing them both again. I saw my dear Lois Saturday and went shopping with her. We had a nice meal, and our usual excellent time together. On Sunday, I surprised my friends from Xprime who were playing at the Gentlemans Expo. ( They did too let me in!) We had a nice visit, I got invited backstage by my good friend Neil Carson to hang with the guys. Great way to end the weekend. They are at the Rivoli on December 20th, btw. My desk recaptured my soul on Monday, but Tuesday, I was back to the Horseshoe Tavern to catch Black Collar Union, a power trio I first heard at the Indie Week wrap up party. They did not disappoint me the second time, believe me. I look forward to seeing more of them. Both Thursday night and Friday night I was lucky enough to get together with my beloved Lois. We enjoy spending time together, and she even did some clothes shopping for her upcoming trip. Now I am home, getting ready in a while to go see my good friend Bob and Marlene, we are going to Cherry Colas tonight to see Blackdog Ballroom and several other bands. Recently I purchased the 2 volumes of the Canadian Pop Music Encyclopedia, written by Jaimie Vernon, a very talented musician/writer. Jaimie is one of a number of people who contribute columns to Dont Believe A Word I Say, the blog of my very dear friend Bob Segarini, a blog well worth reading, by the way. I was able to meet Jaimie briefly yesterday afternoon. He graciously autographed both volumes, putting a different salutation in each. He is currently working on revising these two works, because new information is always coming to light and time does march on. I will be posting reviews of them on my timeline in the near future. We also had a great discussion about the history of Rock in Canada, and he gave me a copy of a CD entitled Ian Anderson plays the orchestral Jethro Tull. Im listening to it as I type. A most enjoyable break in my day, for sure. Ive spent some time with my beloved, heard some great live music and am going to hear some more tonight! I hope you all enjoy your weekend. I will.
