Its been a day for lucky escapes! All hogs taken to the Animals Shelter first. The little babe in the first picture only 65g with teeth, very small for his age, was rescued from the road at Five Oaks, the air from a motor bike passing blew him into the road where a man rescued him. If you know who this kind rescuer is please pass on our thanks, the hoglet has lapped some liquid feed as you can see by the messy state he is in! He seems feisty enough even though he is small. The next pair are a Mum and babe rescued by the finder when her dogs raided the nest, another 2 babes were already killed by the dogs. The lady took the survivors to the Animals Shelter who drove them to New Era vets straight away as the Mums bottom was in a mess. Hugh Forshaw sewed up the wounds with his usual neat needlework, may get you a pic tomorrow, didnt want to stress Mum out tonight, she has been through enough today. The surviving babe just has a small nick from the dogs tooth, but is fine and has already tucked into some babycat biscuits....the resilience of youth, at 4 weeks old you dont know that life shouldnt be like this, so you just start eating the food in front of you, whereas Mum is much more shy as you can see and no wonder poor girl, she isnt the biggest Mum in the world either weighing in at 474g, The babe weighs 119g.
