Its been a day of greatly mixed emotions. We remain cautiously optimistic about my dads recovery following his recent hospital stay. We are a bit frustrated that hes not bouncing back quickly, because weve seen him do so many times before. But this time is different, i.e., he didnt break something that just needs time to heal. I think that part of our frustration is that we all know him as being so remarkable for someone his age... were not used to seeing him at his usual high level. Please keep sending encouraging words and thoughts his way. At the same time, we are grateful for each day that he is with us - and especially today when a cousin of mine, Claire Dennis, died at the tender age of 14 after a short but devastating illness. She was the oldest daughter of my cousin Lisa Tennison Dennis... a beautiful, talented child who - fortunately - we had the opportunity to meet for the first time just a few weeks ago. Words cant describe how tragic and painful this is. Please keep Claire and her grieving family in your thoughts and prayers tonight. Be grateful for every day... hug your kids - and your parents if youre fortunate enough to still have them in your lives.
