Its been a deep journey since watching that incredible sunrise over the Himalayasa few days ago.... Yesterday we went to a Tibetan Refugee camp/village, this one was the largest in this area of approx 1200 people. We sat in the monastery whilst the monks chanted and when we came out we had to walk past all these people selling jewellery. We stopped at a stall right at the beginning.. I bought a few small things, and the lady next door asked me please to go there too... I looked up and a whole row of maybe 15 or so women all beckoned for me to come. It was a deep moment of love calling - there was no choice - so I promised them all I would buy one piece from every single stall. The woman on the next stall told me they are all from different families and all have not sold anything at all today, or for a while..... They were all desperate to feed their families.... I cant express the mutual gratitude and love that took place as Todd and I met each woman. Their relief and joy at a small amount of money. As we made our way down it became more and more evident at the effect on all of them. Each stall had more or less the same pieces and they were constantly in competition for trade with each other... But for this moment, there was something for everyone and I could literally here their hearts singing, their faces shined with the biggest smiles! Im so moved by these women - they gifted me so much... Not only in the extra gifts of friendship bands and bracelets that they came to us and gave afterwards, but in the richness of a moment of meeting, of shared sisterhood and thankfulness. (Its a strange situation for these refugees - because they cant get jobs here in Nepal as they are not granted citizenship cards, no card no job.) I have spoken to a couple of the women and Im looking at going back next year with a few women to share in sisterhood, hear their stories and learn about their lives... The possibility of shared creative potential somehow.... Ive been ill all night as something moved through, everyone got me on the plane this morning and now Im back in Bhaktapur... Been sleeping all day and now really realising all that has happened :)
