Its been a fine year, and the majority of you have had no part in it. Thank you Facebook, but I wont be presenting my life through a generic app. In fact, I will be making an effort to regain some privacy and not share anything personal. Im going to make an effort not to GPS every journey, so that Ill revisit the wonderful feeling of getting lost. I wont document moments to share, Ill keep them to myself, because theyre mine, and sharing them might end up in my memories being monetized. I wont join any more bogus social networks, because Ill speak to whoever is next to me, and if we havent had a conversation in years thats probably some indication as to how close we are. And why would I want to see a photo of your dog? While Im not disengaging with social media as I see no viable way to do that, I do have the choice to the extent I engage in it. I hope that your years cannot be summed up by a host of selfies presented in the same style as everyone elses accompanied by a generic text. I hope you did a bunch of meaningful, loving, wild, mistaken, successful, new things. But lets stop sharing everything. My life is not an open source public domain. And Im not sure how we got to this place so quickly where privacy is a commodity that needs to be abandoned.
