Its been a long, long day, but Greg Burton is a warrior and then some! Hes snug in bed at San Francisco General Hospital, and will be there for at least a couple more days. The surgery went perfectly! We wont know pathology info for about two weeks, but Im told they got everything they thought had any possibility of being cancerous (prostate + nearby lymph nodes, as planned). Greg spent a little longer in the recovery room than Id been told to expect, but the nurses were super nice about letting me come in and hold his hand while he snoozed and they kept an eye on his blood pressure. His son Lowell and daughter Sophie were in touch, as were lots of friends -- we both felt very loved. There was some trouble with pain management at the nursing shift change [understatement; rant redacted here], but we got that taken care of satisfactorily and when I left he was nodding out comfortably and in good nursing hands. If you leave messages for him I will happily pass them along! Im not sure hell be up to phone calls tomorrow, though if he is I will be sure to post that (or he will!)
