Its been a long time since I picked up books on polemics. I decided to pull out a small booklet I have refuting the moon god theory of Robert Morey. He propagated a theory which tried to tie the word Allah to the ancient moon god in Arabia. The theory doesnt hold any water because Allah is different from the word that is used for the moon god in ancient arabia. Also, Allah, Elah, Eloh, Allaha originate in the semitic languages. Which precede the arabic language from my understanding. Secondly the Quran unequivocally refutes the worship of anything besides Allah. In fact, this is the crux of Islam and the way of all the prophets. It moved people from the worship of the creation to the creator. Like the honorable companion of the messenger when faced with Rusdum, he said, we came to liberate you from the oppression of religion to the vastness (liberation) of Islam. Also the Quran refutes this in one verse from the Quran, And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship.
