Its been a pretty bumpy ride for me this past year-- a racing season filled with plenty of jubilant, victorious highs but at the same time my fair share of too many depressing, disappointing lows. Its been disheartening to have so many of my efforts chewed up and spit out even as I know and have been telling myself that the sweetest fruits of my labor are to be harvested at the end of this November rainbow. And when that day finally comes tomorrow I am hoping it will have all been worth the sacrificial shortcomings suffered along the way. I reflected deeply and critically on my training log the other day and affirmation of this came in the form of a figure; 669, a number representing that many more grueling miles logged than this time last year. Dozens upon dozens of longer, harder, faster, hillier grinds all for a singular purpose. This weekend I pledge to redeem myself with the most dedicated effort I have ever put forth in a race in my entire life. If that doesnt do it, then it was never meant to be.
