Its been a shitty few weeks (months, years, decades?), and here at TFW were trying to hold it together despite our collective outrage at the many violences being perpetrated in the world. Michael Browns murder has about put us over the edge of anger and grief. One of the things that keeps us looking forward and remaining hopeful is The Feminist Wire and the powerful words were able to share daily from our many contributors. But another, at least for the coming year, is the Black Life Matters conference planned to coincide with MLK 2015. With esteemed keynote speakers Imani Perry, Kenyon Farrow, and Tamura Lomax, and a host of other participants, this isnt your typical academic conference. Were aiming for a welcoming and productive space of dialogue and action, and we hope to foster a national conversation about issues facing African Americans. Our intention is that the conference will be FREE and open to the public, and so were fundraising feverishly. We need an accurate head count for potential funders, so it would be VERY helpful to us if you could complete the registration form if you plan to attend in person. (We will also live-stream the event, but you do not need to register to participate in live-streaming.) We hope to see many of you in Tucson in January.
